Have a Relaxing Summer

Whatever you have going on this Summer, I hope it's a good one.  Please remember to take time away from your busy schedules this Summer to really relax (and without your phone or other device).  To those returning to South, I'll see you in September.

Textbooks

Over the course of the school year, a few copies of the classroom textbooks have gone missing.  As the school year comes to a close, please go through your locker, your backpack, and the piles of dirty laundry in your bedroom and return any math textbooks that you may come across to me.  I can promise you that they will be of no use to you in the future.  Books...yuck!

Almost There

Just three weeks of school left.  That's 15 days...7 or 8 classes for each course.  Stay focused!  Remember that "almost finished" also means "not finished yet".  You can do it!

Spring Break

This Spring Break, consider putting the phones away and playing outside.  Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a fun and relaxing break!

Math 9 Honours Entrance Exam

All current Math 8 students interested in taking Math 9 Honours next year need to write an entrance exam.  Students in my Math 8 classes will write this exam during class time on Tuesday, April 1 or on Wednesday, April 2.  The exam will cover topics from the Math 8 course.

Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment Review

For grade 10 students, Mr. Marzouk is running a review for the numeracy assessment on Wednesday, January 22 from 1:55 PM to 3:03 PM in the school library.  This is an optional review session for students who would like some practice before writing the actual numeracy assessment later that week.  You can also access information about the numeracy assessment and sample questions on the BC Numeracy Assessment website.

A reminder that the numeracy assessment is not a "math test".  It is an assessment of your ability to apply mathematical skills and concepts in "real life" settings.  It is not attached to any particular math course, does not directly assess the curricular content of any particular math course, and does not impact your current grades.
